Freaky Fives 5K Family Run & Walk

The Freaky Fives 5K Family Run & Walk is a great way to get into the Halloween mood. The Eighth Annual 5K race encourages participants to wear their fun/freaky Halloween costumes for a pre-race costume contest. Awards will be presented for the costume contest and to the top two overall male and female finishers and to the top two finishers in each 5K running category.
Participants who register by 5 pm on Oct. 14 are guaranteed an event T-shirt and the early registration price. Entry forms are available at the CARD Activity Center or online at www.CollinsvilleRec.com

Fall Farm Day at Willoughby Farm

Willoughby Heritage Farm and Conservation Reserve, 631 Willoughby Lane, Collinsville, IL.

Maybe you’ve been to the farm before but you’ve never seen it like this! Bring your family and explore the history of Willoughby Farm with tours by Willoughby descendants, check out the “poultry palace” to see the varieties of hens, see how our goats help to “mow the lawn,” and leave your own mark on this heritage farm!
Pumpkins and gourds will be available for purchase, live bluegrass music, a big pit roasted pig and more!
Admission is FREE. Refreshments will be available to purchase.
Daddy Daughter Date Night

Are you a father, grandfather, uncle or family friend who has a special girl in your life that you would like to treat to an evening to remember? Then bring her to Daddy Daughter Date Night!
This evening is for girls age 5-16 and their “dates” - no moms allowed! The event includes dinner, dessert, dancing, fun activities and prizes. A professional photographer will be on hand to capture the magic of the evening. Photos may be purchased for an additional fee.

This is a formal event: young ladies should wear a dress; sport coat/suit and tie for the male attendants. This is a truly classy evening that will create memories to last a lifetime.

Pre-registration is required and is accepted on a first come, first served basis. Registration deadline is before noon on Feb. 5. Be sure to give session number 10W211 when you register. The cost is $38/$42 R/NR per couple; $17/$19 R/NR per additional daughter. Call 346-7529 today to register!
Basic Outdoor Skills

This fun and educational class will introduce basic outdoor skills to individuals and families of all ages. Participants will be instructed on the basics of building a fire, first aid, mapping and navigation in the wilderness. The evening will conclude with dinner cooked over the campfire.
For ages 5 and up; adults and families are welcome! The fee for this fun class is just $5 per person; $20 maximum per family.

Treat your child to the excitement of the holiday season with his or her own, personalized letter from the big man himself!

Return the completed form with cash or check by 5 pm on December 15, 2009 to “Letters from Santa” 10 Gateway Drive, Collinsville, IL 62234. The charge for each letter is $4.
Letters from Santa will be received prior to Christmas.

School’s Out Club

On vacation from school and not sure what to do? Join CARD’s School’s Out Club.  Bring your friends and spend your school’s off days on a fun field trip. We’ll pack as many experiences into one day as we can and even stop somewhere for lunch. CARD staff supervises trip participants and the cost includes all entry fees, lunch and transportation. Your child can bring extra spending money. Don’t miss these days of fun and excitement!

January 18 Itinerary: Spend the day on a field trip to St. Louis to  enjoy The Magic House, Cici’s Pizza, and Steinberg Ice Skating Rink

February 12 Itinerary: Head to the St. Louis Science Center, eat in the cafeteria there for lunch then explore the City Museum.

March 1 Itinerary: See the Jurassic Bugs exhibit at the Butterfly House in St. Louis, head to Fitz’s lunch and then to St. Louis Zoo.
