Bring your toddler to the CARD Activity Center for an hour or so of FUN! Enjoy all of our equipment including tumbling mats, oversized foam blocks, tunnels and playhouse, balls, hoops and more. The playtime provides a great opportunity for social interaction and motor skill development.

Ages 3-4
Encourage your child to develop motor skills and coordination while learning tumbling.  We’ll cover stretching, forward and backward rolls, head stands, hand stands, jumps and balancing on a balance beam.  Parents will assist children in development of skills. A relative or family friend may attend with child in place of parent.

Dynamic Dance  
Level 1:

From tap and jazz to ballet, your little Fred Astaire or Ginger Rogers is ready to dance. Level 1 covers the fundamentals of dance and movement with Ballet and Tap.  Level 2 students continue with new steps in Ballet and Tap, and include Jazz.

Karate

Students experience physical fitness, improved motor skills and hand-eye coordination while learning martial arts training methods. Students with Orange Belts will work on improving agility, flexibility, and coordination of martial arts techniques. Purple Belts will work on developing strength, stamina and reflexes. All students will learn martial arts and Japanese terms and practice dojo etiquette.

Tumble 'n Cheer
Ages 6-10
Ready to take your tumbling to the next level and add some “cheer” for fun? Tumbling students will continue to perfect basic tumbling skills and advance to back bends, round offs, limbers, walkovers, and handsprings. Then we'll add some cheerleading jumps and stunts while learning today's cheers. Class may perform occasionally at community events. Any expenses for those functions and uniforms are not included.

This class teaches you the basics of Irish Stepdance. Instructor Allyson McCann is an award winning dancer, and is certified with the Performance Irish Dance Teachers Association. Participants are to wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle to each class.

Class focus is on dance and performance technique. Dancers will need to supply their own soft shoes, hard shoes, and costume purchase/rental. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle to each class. Prerequisite: Must have completed at least 18 weeks of beginning Stepdance and have consent of the instructor to enroll.

Irish Bodhran - The War Drum
Ages 6 and up
Participants feel the rhythm as they learn the Irish Bodhrán (pronounced baw-rahn). The hand-held drum gives off an ancient sound but retains its place in modern Irish culture. Participants will need to provide their own Bodhrán Drum. Students have the option of ordering a drum through the instructor prior to the start of class. Drummers may join the “Irish Thunder Drum Corp” and accompany the Kelly-O’Sullivan Irish dancers during performances.

School’s Out Club
Ages 7-13
Bring your friends and spend Teacher Institute Day or whatever school holiday it is on a fun field trip. But this is not your ordinary field trip…we will pack as many places and fun into one day as we can and even stop somewhere fun for lunch. Trips are supervised by CARD staff and include entry fees, lunch and transportation. Extra spending money may be brought by your child. You won’t want to miss this day of fun and excitement!

On February 20 we will leave the CARD office at 9:15 and arrive at the City Museum. At lunch we will eat picnic style at Samwiches. At mid afternoon we will head over to Upper Limits to rock wall climb. *All participants must sign the Upper Limits release / waiver to participate and bring socks and gym type shoes to wear while at Upper Limits.

NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competition   FREE!
Ages  8-15 as of December 31, 2012
Boys and girls can test their football skills at this FREE competition sponsored by CARD, the Raiders Youth Football program and the National Football League. Participants will compete in punting, passing and placekicking skills against children their own age. It only takes minutes to compete and earn your score!
Participants are required to provide proof of age prior to advancing to sectionals.

Home Alone
Ages 9-12 years
Staying home alone for the first time can be frightening if children aren’t informed. Being confident can make things a lot easier for both parent and child. This program is designed to teach children simple rules and procedures for responsible self care. Home alone covers over 10 topics and includes a film. Child must be age specified by the first day of class

Red Cross Babysitting Clinic
Ages 11-14
Can’t wait until you can get a job babysitting? Learn the skills you need to be the babysitter that parents want! This interactive course is designed to train young people to deal with various situations they may encounter while caring for a child, from simple care to basic first aid. Students will take an exam covering information presented in the clinic. Students are to provide a sack lunch, drink, notepad and sharp pencil.

Chestnut Mountain Ski and Snowboard Overnight

Shred some slopes with teens from throughout Illinois at this annual statewide ski and snowboard overnight. We’ll leave Collinsville as soon as school lets out, putting us in Galena, Illinois, around 11pm. At this time, you can take a lesson and hit the hills! Until we depart at 5am, you will also have access to the video game room, campfire, and snack bar. Don’t worry about staying up all night; we know you can handle it. You can sleep on the drive back!
Parents: This trip will be well-chaperoned, and you can contact us by phone throughout the evening/morning.

Open Volleyball / Basketball Night
Ages 16+
Drop in for a night of fun and exercise playing one or both of your favorite sports. CARD is taking over the gymnasium at Dorris Intermediate School on Monday nights when school is in session and offering open volleyball on one side and open basketball on the other.

Co-Rec Volleyball League
Ages 16+
Get your team together for a season of volleyball fun and competition. In its third year, league teams of six (with at least two men and two women on the court at all times) compete on Thursday nights within two divisions of play. Matches will be officiated and include three games each week. Registration packets are available at the CARD Activity Center and online at CollinsvilleRec.com.

This Hatha Yoga program is open to all levels of experience.

Lifeguard Training Course 2012
Ages 16+
Learn water rescue techniques; team lifeguarding, first aid and CPR with oxygen and defibrillator certifications in this 20 hour course. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a Starfish Aquatics Institute Lifeguard license and the opportunity to become a team member of Splash City for the summer 2012 season. Includes your books and guard license. You must fill out a Splash City Application and pass the prerequisite swim skills to become, professional and respectful lifeguard.

Basic Bicycle Maintenance
Ages 16+
If you ride a bicycle, then you need this class! Visiting experts from Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) will show you how to perform a safety check on your bicycle. You will learn how to care for and clean your bike, lube a chain, fix a flat tire in record time, and make other minor adjustments to keep you safe on the roads and trail.
REI bike techs will answer all your cycling-related questions. They also have some great suggestions for safe and pleasant rides in the St. Louis metropolitan area!
